DayKnight Festival 2016

  (Edited: )

HOWDY DAYKNIGHTS!

As seasons change and the year comes to a close, it is time to celebrate in DayKnight fashion with fun and games! The Winter DayKnight festival, starting December 17th 2016, 4pm PST/7pm EST (and running probably at least three hours) promises to be an amazing event! We've got a great set of volunteers helping to get things in place, and we hope all of you will join in the fun.

If you haven't yet, please follow @dkfestival on twitter for up-to-date information. As we get closer to the event, we'll also be posting information on the DayKnight Festival Website, including information you'll need to get into the games. We’re also going to be updating the Blog with interesting stories about the festival – The first one is live!

What is the DayKnight Festival?

The festival is a chance for the community to get together and play games. We're an international community that is enthusiastically engaged in all sorts of exciting activities, including gaming, creative persuits, scientific endevours, and everything in between. The festival is a chance to take a bit of a break, hang out with old friends, meet new ones, and have a blast. It's having friends over to play games, but on a global scale.

How does this work?

We want to make it as easy as possible for you to show up, find a game you'd like to play, and get connected to other people playing the game as well. We do this through a couple different mechanisms.

Streamers

We have DayKnight streamers who have volunteered their time to organize games for the community to play together. This is a great way to get introduced to the game, and meet new DayKnight friends! You’ll be able to connect quickly, and be playing on-stream, which can be a blast!

If you can’t get into the game right away, don’t worry. There’s a whole bunch of people in chat to hang out with while you wait. The streamers are going to try and cycle in as many people as they can, so please be patient. Staying active in the chat will allow the streamer to see that you are interested in playing the game, and will also get you in the mix with other members of the community. You don’t have to wait for the streamer games to be done either – For example, if there are 4-5 of you waiting in a Heroes of the Storm chat, why not group together and get a few games in!

| Are you a streamer but can't make the event? We'd still love it if you mentioned the event on your stream! |

Discord

The DayKnight community has a very active Discord server.  Make sure to join us in there, and you'll be able to find other people playing the game you're looking for. Don’t forget, check the #Initiation-Hall for more information about the Discord server.

Don’t play multiplayer games? Not really interested in being on a stream? Don’t want to connect to discord? That’s okay! We'd still be super stoked if you were able to come and lurk with the community during the event! Maybe even fire up a single player game, and have fun knowing that your fellow DayKnights are doing the same thing. If you do, it would be great if you'd hop into the stream chats, say hello and tell us what you're playing!

So, add the event to your calendar,

follow us for more information,

and look forward to having a blast!
