Day[9] Daily #463 – Closest 2v2s of all time – Funday Monday

In today’s Funday Monday we examine the absolute closest 2v2s of all time! Many of these games will look somewhat reasonable. Some will be trollish. All will be outrageously awesome .

… Especially parts 2 and 3. Seriously no joke these games are amazing <3

-Is there a pro game in which the phoenix upgrade has been utilized and it actually worked?

Description

Day[9] Daily #458 – Current TvP Part 1: The Midgame

In this two part special, we’re going to examine TvP from the Terran point of view a la Blizzard’s recent writeup of the TvP matchup: http://www.teamliquid.net/forum/viewmessage.php?topic_id=334748

I think Blizzard is spot on in their analysis of the matchup, but that doesn’t make it easy! In Part 1 we’ll be examining how Terran needs to take advantage of the incredible protoss weakness in the midgame: what we can get away with, how to exploit the Toss, and the importance of getting into an advantageous position!

Q&A With Day[9]

-You never showed any games versus a Parting style gateway attack at 8 minutes. How does a 1 raxs FE scout for this and deal with this effective?
-As a Master’s Terran, I’m finding it hard in the mid game to do damage to my opponent usually there’s stalkers to defend in the main and a good number of sentries to hold at the front. What should I do in the mid game if I’m unable to do damage?

Day[9] Daily #457 – A fun TvZ Mech opening!

LastShadow returns again with a set of stunning replays of him defeating top korean GM players with a fun and aggressive mech opening! We got the chance to examine general mech techniques with the recent EGDeMusliM vs IMNestea game. Today, we’ll see a strategy executed start to finish in a number of different situations. That way, you can steal it and go use it on the ladder!

Moreover, because I think LastShadow is awesome and because I’ve had so many requests, here’s a link to LastShadow’s e-mail for coaching:

Day[9] Daily #456 – dSeleCT vs vileState

In a typical game, the goal is to have a better build order and win with a nice timing attack or the better composition. However, oftentimes both players effectively defend aggression from the opponent and neither is clearly ahead. Today’s daily is an extremely long TvP where both players essentially get up the “money mix” of units. In the process, we’ll examine how to position an army for defense, dropping, attacks etc in order to get a seemingly invisible edge!

Q&A With Day[9]

-In MTG what is your favorite color / combo of colors or which do you play the most?
-The concept of positioning you discuss in this game can be applied to any matchup?
-You said noob protoss have a hard time holding off the 10-12 minute terran push, how would we hold that off better?
-What is your favorite setup for dominion?

Day[9] Daily #455 – Funday Monday – Cannon pushing!

HAPPY MONDAY ! In today’s episode, we examine the highs and lows of trying to kill your opponent with buildings in the most classic form of scrubbie play: the CANNON RUSH! . However, we do not simply look at the idea of doing the cannon rush. Rather, we extend this to cannon pushing, cannon dropping, cannon offensives from start to finish.

Can you win with cannons at the 30 minute mark? In today’s daily we’ll find out that most of you can’t LOL.

Day[9] Daily #454 – Leenock vs Parting!

From both sides, the ZvP matchup has looked fairly stagnant as of late. Protosses early expand and do some mixture of blink stalker + colossus + sentry while eventually teching to mothership. Likewise, Zergs tend to triple expo, mass up ‘dem roaches + infestors and transition to a late game hive mixture (lulz broodlords).

In today’s games, we see fairly unorthodox play from both sides and, in particular, admire the brilliant transitioning and openings of Leenock! Who goes mass baneling roach anyways?

Q&A With Day[9]

-Can you show a game with a carrier transition into ‘Toss?
-As a Protoss wouldn’t making colossi force the opponent make corruptors faster?
-In the last game, why is it right for Leenock to stop the attack in the main and go scout for other bases during the base trade?
