improving effectiveness of APM

  (Edited: )

Greetings all!

Gold level Zerg player here, so I don't get to play a whole lot of SC2 regularly, I usually get to play on the weekends but I watch/have watched a lot of videos on strategy etc, so have come essentially come across a problem I wasn't expecting.

The biggest problem I am having is that essentially my hands can't keep up with what I want to do. I know exactly what I should be doing, I know when its good to expand, what upgrades I should get, what units I should get and when but I feel liked I am trying to do one thing and there is 7 other things that need to be done at the same time and I basically forget some of them. Yesterday I got caught up trying to expand, inject larve(4 hatches), get 1-1 upgrades, and some drones that my plan was to get a spire but I forgot to plant it, when I realized it, it wasn't too late but I did significantly less damage then I wanted to. Obviously when you are doing it, it feels time is moving slower but at least it feels like I am sitting too long trying to do 1 action. I average a humble 110-120 apm and spike around 220.

So my request is, does anyone have any exercises that improve apm effectiveness? I think my biggest problem is with actions that are done only once or twice a game, buildings, upgrades etc...
