The pay off

As a teacher I'd love to be able to bring in a game, but there are some serious hurdles to overcome.  I'd love to bring in Kirble Space program for my science unit. The other part of it is that "serious" learning games are shit.  The educational games sector is just plain awful.  The games usually break down into flash cards with a reward for getting it right (usually a crappy one at that).  The problem solving parts just aren't there and they make massive amount of money from districts looking for educational supplements by selling licenses to districts. They have no incentive to make a better product.

I wish I could get my hands on luminosity to see if it actually offers the "brain stretching" activities it promises.  The idea of it is much more sound and appropriate for a true digital interactive learning platform.
