"Socialism is about government owned production and force". That's a common misconception, socialism is about public ownership of the means of production and distribution based on necessity without profit, utilizing a government for this is called state socialism. Other streams of socialist thought, such as syndicalists, anarchists and libertarian socialists, completely reject any form of state, arguing for unions, cooperatives etc. directly controlling the means of production, favoring strikes and such as a means of coercion. Even the end goal of Marxist theory is the abolition of the state, but all implementations of revolutionary marxism (such as Leninism and Maoism) have been catastrophical. Social democracy, which walks the middle path of a free market system regulated by a centralised state, have had better results.
Not arguing anything here, just responding to a statement which is misinformed.
