I've been casually reading a few articles about voice acting performances in video games this evening (such as this one). It's undeniable that story-telling has become more important in video games over the decades, which means finding the right voices to bring characters to life has become much more of a focus point in the development of a game, as well. Which has brought me to wonder about two things!
- Who is/are your favorite voice actor(s) in video games?
- What do you think makes a good voice acting performance/character come to life through the use of voice acting?
For me, it would have to be Jennifer Hale (Grandia II, Mass Effect, Diablo III, Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic, Tales of Symphonia, Metroid Prime, Metal Gear Solid, Halo 4, etc,), perhaps predictably so. Her versatility just blows me away, and there's something about her performance that always draws me in and keeps me hooked. I always get so excited when I can tell her characters are about to say something!
As someone who is very much aspiring to work as a voice-over artist in video games one day, I'm very curious and excited to read your input! :D Any tips/suggestions you guys might have are also incredibly welcome. <3
