Adjust the settings before you play Bioshock Infinite on the PC

  (Edited: )

Hey Day9,

If you're playing the PC version, make sure you visit this site about how to adjust your settings file before you play:

The game has two major settings flaws:

  • The mouse sensitivity range on their options slider is way too large. Anything besides the last bit of the slider to the far left is unusable if you have a reasonably sensitive mouse. The suggested settings of 0.05 to 0.5 in the wiki above work well.
  • The FOV is set to 70 degrees horizontally, which is fine for consoles but way too small for PC viewing. I normally don't play FPS games because I easily become motion sick, and even with the FOV at max I kept getting headaches trying to play the game for more than a few minutes at a time. Using the wiki above to set the max FOV to 95 degrees (make MaxUserFOVOffsetPercent=35.71 and move the FOV slider to the max) allowed me to get through the whole game with only minor discomfort, so I highly recommend you readjust the FOV before playing.
  • By the by, if you're interested, there's an excellent explanation of why PC games need a 90-95 degree FOV for playing comfort in this YouTube video.

Also, as others have said, I recommend you play the game through on Hard. You'll enjoy it more if you can progress through the story at a steady pace, and everything I've heard of 1999 mode involves lots of stop-go play that'll slow your progress to spurts.
