Satan Writing DK30 Spring 2019 10 12

Description

Last time around I did poems in three languages and came to realize that that is ridiculously demanding. On top of that it was a very difficult time for me, so this time, I’m going to do exclusively English.

Alright so, today was a struggle for me. I didn’t suffer from a lack of sleep, nor a lack of energy of motivation, I just didn’t know where to start. So I did some gardening, making sure my chillis survive the cold of may (for whatever freezing temperatures are rolling in). Then I just stepped away from the project, decided that I wasn’t going to do three, but rather a poem I’d be happy ending on, something to chronicle my journey through the project.

And thus, I sat down at about five to midnight, and decided what the title was going to be: “The End”.

I’m happy how it turned out, and I’m really glad I did this. I hope that I can keep the consistency up and maybe (after a lot of positive feedback), to look at potentially compiling my poetry and maybe looking into how this whole publishing thing works…

Alright so… “technically” I’m done with the “30 Day Project”, however, I am extending it by a day. The reasoning behind that is I don’t feel done yet. I want to attach one more day to it, to make up for the additional unplanned time off I took this week. (Plus, I’m really feeling the itch of writing more.)

Now today was the 4th of May memorial in the Netherlands, so I decided to theme Day 30 around that today. I like to think it was successful, but it did get a little borderline political, so I didn’t feel right linking them to the Discord.

If anyone’s reading this, feel free to get on my case tomorrow, because lord knows I’ll be tired as hell after todays study session, incredibly long D&D session which was followed by an hour of writing (into the early morning hours >

Well, I took two days off to work on some stuff I needed to work on after throwing out my back. Hurt like hell, needed time. Normally I’d force myself to do the work no matter what, but this time I actually did the responsible thing and worked on my health.

But, because I felt motivated and energetic today I wrote FIIIIIIIIVE poems, Day 28. Happy I did, some good ones came out of it :D Just a few more days, and depending on if I can keep the energy up, I’d like to do FIIIIIIIIVE a day for the remaining 2-3 days, to make up for the days I missed and to see if I can do that at all. It’d be well above my normal top-productivity, but I did it today, and managed, despite a super stressful day.

Positivity is key. And that’s what I’m going to be: Positive.

Alright, time for a long overdue update.

So here’s the short end of it: Things have been going better than expected! I’ve been more or less consistent in my writing, sitting down every day between 22:00 and 00:00. The reason I’ve been putting out so few updates is because I’ve been moving the updates to essentially the Discord server. Asking for words from the lovely DayKnights, and tagging them as soon as “their” poem is done. It’s been giving me immense satisfaction to hear back that people like it, knowing how incredibly critical I can be of myself.

Yesterday we had the Week 3 Meet-Up, during which I did some readings for poetry, including one which was written as a rap! It was really fun to hear about everyone’s projects and to tank some additional inspiration and motivation for the last leg of this one month journey to success! Furthermore, I skipped writing yesterday, partly accidentally, partly because I didn’t have the energy, HOWEVER, I did write seven poems today to make up for yesterdays and todays as well as a bonus poem! Day 23 & Day 24

Second week has proven much harder than the first though I’m not entirely sure why. Today is a big one since I have decided to move all of Days 13 and 14 into today, let’s see if we can pull of six in one day!

Edit: Well… I succeeded o.O I’m as surprised as you are.

As for looking back on the week… It felt kind of effortless until yesterday when some stuff happened that I don’t really want to be divulging. So I took my break yesterday rather than today, as was originally planned. I was going to take a day off, but instead I’ll be moving that to probably this saturday or sunday.

Day 13 & 14

Satan 6 years ago

Stalled a bit today due to having to work a bit on another larger project outside of the scope of the DK30.

Day 3

Day 3 was a bit slower production wise because it took me a while to get into the flow.

I said I would take the weekend to reflect a bit and I think I am enjoying doing it this way. Asking in the 30-Day Project chat for people to give me words allows me to explore concepts I might otherwise not think of. It helps with burnout because I’m constantly getting outside input. Plus I hope it makes those who read them, those who provided the word for the poem a little bit o’ joy. If I can provide that to even a single person then that is already a success where this project is concerned.

It has been brought to my attention that I should post the daily updates with the poems here, so I shall! What I’ve been doing so far is going into the DayKnight Discord and ask fellow DayKnights for words, the first thing that came to mind. I would then take those words, and write a poem around it. I then credited them at the end :D

Day 1 My words were Wine, Duck and Taco

Day 2 My words were Lightbulb, Polyglot and “Word”

We’ll see what the Knights have for me in the days to come!

Estimated Timeframe

Apr 5th - May 5th

Week 1 Goal

Sit down five days a week to write, use the remaining two to do reflection. Three poems every writing day.

Week 2 Goal

Sit down six days a week, use the remaining day to reflect. Three poems every writing day.

Week 3 Goal

Full week of writing every day. Three poems every writing day.

Week 4 Goal

Sit down five days a week writing, use the weekend to look back on the project. Three poems every writing day.
