Recent Updates
Changed a few game mechanics, improved some of the visuals and did some bug fixing. Uploaded to itcho.io at https://ry-games.itch.io/auto-battle-the-duel. Feel free to check it out if your interested.
Week 4: At the end of week 4 I’ve added a lot of stuff. This includes but is not limited to right click zoom in/out feature, unit type and elemental alliances, music manger with volume controls, sound effects manager with volume controls, tooltips, turn indicator, round indicator, x3/x9 card combinations, win/loss states, unit play limits, lock selection button, a more advanced AI system and a start screen. The AI still isn’t great so to compensate I’ve added level buttons on the start menu that increases the enemy controllers starting health. I got a lot done in the last week and am looking forward to taking a break but think I would like to continue developing this project in the future.

Week 3: At the end of week 3 I’ve added a card pool system, a leveling up system, sounds effects and a combat system. I’ve also done some tidying up of the project and adjusted some of the game mechanics. Cards now attack each other automatically during the combat phase with the winners cards dealing damage to the opposing controller. Cards reset once combat is finished and the game is moved back to the selection phase. Adding in the combat mechanics was trickier than I thought it would be and I ended up spending a lot of time fixing bugs. At one point cards were just randomly spinning around and jumping off screen. Project is going ok but with not much time left in the DK30 I’m having to prioritize the tasks I would like completed by the end date.

Week 2: At the end of week 2 I’ve added controller characters (for player and enemy), the ability to move cards, a game timer and game phases. Cards can now be bought, sold and moved from players hand to placement area and vice versa. I’m a bit behind where i thought I would be but I think this is down to the fact that I’ve spent extra time getting the look and feel right. I’ve also started working on the music. I’m happy with how it’s gone so far.

Week 1: At the end of the first week I’ve setup a basic play area and made cards with 3D artwork for 4 unit classes and 4 elemental alignments. I’m happy with how it turned out. Learned a lot about 3D modelling, shaders and lighting.
