Learn the Basics of Warhammer 40k and Build an Army!

Description
I desperately need a hobby other than gaming, and I’ve loved the lore and feel of the WH40K universe for quite some time now! I’ve decided that while I can’t play the game quite yet (thanks again, quarantine), the idea of assembling and painting an army sounds relaxing and fun!
Recent Updates
Unfortunately, it seems Games Workshop is still shut down and cannot deliver to Canada yet. Bummer! That being said, I’ve still done a ton of opening research into the hobby, and I’m 100% invested now.
First major decision: goin’ wit da Orkz! I absolutely love the aesthetic (and the memetastic mechanics) of the greenskins, and I’ve found a simple starter list (essentially your army composition) that can get me and a friend playing (more on that later). On top of that, I’ve chosen two larger units that while not necessarily a part of my core army (though they totally can be a part of it for the lulz): an Ork Stompa (imagine a literal walking effigy that just so happens to be armed to the teef) and a Dakkajet (a literal jet turbine with scrapmetal and gunz strapped to it) will serve as awesome, long-term painting projects.
Aside from learning about the game, I’ve also found a hobby shop not too far away from where I live that, once reopened, will be a great venue to play Warhammer and get more models. I also found out a friend of mine has an army already, and once social distancing is relaxed having someone to play with will make sticking with it that much easier!
Estimated Timeframe
Apr 24th - Apr 16th
Week 1 Goal
I’m still going to be in the tail end of finals during the first week, so I plan to mostly do my research on which army I’d like to build and, more particularly, which units I’ll be buying. As of right now I’m caught between wanting to build an Ork army or an Imperium army, either Space Marine or Astra Militarum. Decisions, decisions!
Week 2 Goal
By this point I’ll hopefully have received my models, and can begin painting! I expect this to leak into week three.
Week 3 Goal
By week three I’ll most likely still be painting. At this point I hope to begin delving into the rules of the game, getting an understanding of not only my army (whichever one that ends up being), but of other armies as well!
Week 4 Goal
The final week! By this point my army should definitely be fully assembled and painted, and I can focus on understanding the various rules/stratagems that I can use to play well.
