Description
I finally acquired a PC that can run Overwatch without crashing/shutting off or having to rely on one of my roommates to play on his PS4 (which got old real fast) and its been a hot minute (about a year and a half) since I last played and tbh I wasn’t all that great then. So my goal is to become a better player than I was, get to a point where I can play in competitive matches online (Level 25), and can actually pull my weight. My Current level is 2 so both the Quick Play and Arcade modes are the only ones I’m able to play on to advance. Its all kinda people just doing whatever most of the time and only wins count so its gonna be a brutal crawl out of the sandbox.
Recent Updates
It’s bee none hell of a time but after getting more comfortable with the game I have finally done my placement matches. Each category has just five matches each but I forgot how long and stressful they are llamao. Anyways here are my results. Tank: 1611 SR (low-mid silver). DPS: 2037 (low gold). Support: 1778 (mid silver). It’s funny cause the teams I was in for tank and support, we won 3 out of the five games and for DPS I/we won 1 and I was hella carried by everyone else each game. But yea from here on out I’ll be practicing and playing more to get better. Until next time, Ciao!
OwO so today the ladder reset (well it was actually a few days ago) and I want to do my placement matches and see where I fall for each role. I’m hoping to get to high bronze/low silver though I’m decent I don’t really see myself getting too too high lol but we’ll see. I’ll be doing a bit of warm up in quick play for a bit and then hop in comp placement this afternoon/evening! Wish me luck :)
I’ve been watching a lot of Overwatch videos as well as playing a whole lot more with my friends in Quick Play over the past 2 days but now I’m getting really bad burnout so I’m going to take a break and get back to playing in a few days. I am still getting slightly better as the tanks and DPS but, I’m still not where I’d like to be with support so yea, I’ll work on that mroe when I get back lol.
Another few days have gone by and I’ve slowed down playing (about 4-5 hours playing instead of like 7-8 lol) but I’ve picked up Mei (a dps though she functions more like a tank/support tbh) and she feel nice so I’ll add her to the roster of playables. I don’t really feel like waiting too much longer before trying out competitive so I’ll get to that soon once the current season ends and the new one starts so uh yea. My aim has improved both with Ana and Mei and I’m dying less often than I was last week. I do seem to overextend a bit with the tanks so, I’m going to work on not doing that because it puts me in pretty compromising positions that’s hard for me to get back in a safety zone so that’s going to be the next goal.
Alrighty so I’ve been playing a lot (like roughly 6-7 hours daily cause lol Covid) and I’ve not only gotten better but have already reached Lvl 25 and can participate in the placement matches now but I don’t feel ready just yet so I’ll hold off from doing that until I’m comfortable.
The heroes that I’ve chosen to play are: Tank: D.Va (Dive tank), Reinhardt (Shield tank) DPS: N/A Support: Moira, Ana
D.Va is really fun to play and is more of my playstyle and Reinhardt is nice and sturdy so those will be mainstays. Ana, and Moira are also very neato vegeto and I’ll probably pick up Mercy and/or Lucio as well later. I don’t really like DPS all that much so I don’t play them often but I might pick a few up to learn just to get a good feel for them but I won’t focus on that until probably next week.
Estimated Timeframe
Apr 20th - May 24th
Week 1 Goal
- Get comfortable with the keyboard settings to minimize mistakes.
- Select a few heroes that I’d like to play and learn them well.
- Get better at aiming.
- Learn the maps. I had a hard time the first time around cause I didn’t take time to learn the maps and was always either getting lost or falling off so, no more of that junk.
Week 2 Goal
Start putting in some real training with my preferred heroes Learn their kits, ability cool downs, what specific things they are supposed to do Know who those characters can and can’t take on in 1v1’s and what other things to watch out for
Week 3 Goal
Learn to play faster and have better reaction times, as well as having a better battlefield awareness
Week 4 Goal
Reach Level 25 and participate in the placement matches for competitive
