Description
Earlier this year we unveiled the Gauntlet, an adventure made for Twitch chat. We’re now working on an updated version that adds user inputs/choices and a more powerful procedural storytelling engine. Our goal is to stream the first version of this updated engine by the end of the 30 days.
Recent Updates
The first public stream is behind us now! I’m still actively working on adding some more variety to the critical paths for the next few runs. This was my first time as a writer so it was a cool new experience to see people responding to my work. I’m really happy with how it turned out. Watch it here
I ended up being way more busy than anticipated!
We’ve made great progress on Gauntlet 2.0 but we’re still a few weeks behind the next public stream.
Done:
- Early version of the new engine runs events
- Writers have been mostly onboarded with the new system and entered some events
Next:
- Player UI is in progress
- Sanity checking engine design decisions and tweaks for writers
- Complete and edit at least one World where adventures take place
- Private test
- Rename the Gauntlet

- Brainstorm new names for the Gauntlet
- Create engine onboarding document for writers
- Onboard writers

- Choose new name for the Gauntlet
- Give feedback to the writers
Week 3 Goal
- Begin inputting writing into the engine
- Test the engine
Week 4 Goal
- First stream of Gauntlet 2.0
- Add additional storylines and events
