Paint and fix up my bedroom/office, build shelves in closet

Project is largely complete. To summarize, the painting and shelf building was more work than expected, and there’s still more decorating and organizing to do, but I’m very happy with the progress.

Forgot to post earlier about how I built the shelves, but here’s some pictures of how they are put together. Excuse the fact that some are different colors. I still need to stain some of the shelves:

I did finish painting the room last week. I’ll get some pictures up in the future.

Today I picked up the lumber for the shelves, and started cutting them using my Dad’s rusty old table saw, and also started staining them.

So apparently painting a room is a lot of work. Or I’m just really bad at it. Maybe both. Either way, I was only able to one coat of paint on and am going to have to get the second coat on next weekend. It’s kinda splotchy at the moment, but the second coat should smooth that out, right? Right??

That aside, I’m very happy with the color I chose:

Got a late start this weekend, and am pretty inexperienced at painting, so I didn’t get as much done as I hoped. But I did get the walls taped, and got a coat of paint on one of the walls. And decided to paint that upper section as well as you can see.

I think I’ve got my rhythm down now though so I should be able to finish up tomorrow.

Trying to decide if I paint the upper section of the wall that hangs over a bit. Here’s how it would look each way. Actual color is a darker blue.

Got some paint samples and tested a couple colors. I’m going with the dark navy blue:
