Finishing Touches on my WH40k Minis

Itspsychicmuffin Craft and Cosplay DK30 Spring 2021 2 2

Description

The past couple DK30 events have seen me dive into the hobby of miniature painting with a Raven Guard army from Warhammer40k. While last time I really pushed myself to build and paint as much as possible (“efficiency” being the goal moreso than quality), this March I want to do something a bit more laid back, and really up the quality of the minis that I’ve already painted. I plan to do this by applying shades, doing some layering, and touching up the many little mistakes I’ve made since I’ve started this hobby.

Estimated Timeframe

Mar 1st - Mar 31st

Week 1 Goal

Step one: touchups! I’ve made a lot of tiny mistakes here and there since I’ve started working on my army, and before I can pretty these Space Marines up, I have to fix those mistakes.

Week 2 Goal

Shading. Nuln Oil is referred to by some as “cheat juice” and for good reason: applying some of this can make even the most basic of miniatures into a reasonably good looking model on your tabletop.

Week 3 Goal

This is where the fun (and challenge) really begins: layering! I plan on using this week to practice the technique on some regular troop models, hoping to get the hang of it before moving on to my fancier, prettier emo boys.

Week 4 Goal

With layering mastered understood somewhat learned, week four will be all about bringing the best out of my HQ models (the commanders/leaders). These models deserve to shine!
