Laying Fundamentals for Personal Project
HNDRIX Education and Career DK30 Spring 2021 0 0
Description
I’m 20, and I have no idea what I am really good at/what I would like to do in life. Sometimes I’m very excited about all kinds of topics, and other times I just get bored of everything.
So I came up with my own personal project, called DSCVR500. Basically: I have 500 days to try all kinds of things and see what I like / what I am good at or can/would like to get good at. That’s the premise. But easier said than done. I noticed that I need some structure for this project to work. That gave me the idea of writing out a plan. A plan sounds simple, right? Well, it really isn’t. New ideas arise all the time, so the plan is subject to change almost constantly. That said, I also have to take into account that the plan doesn’t have to be perfect. It just needs to be a guideline that can help me stay on track. Now onto the things I want to do in this DK30. The goal is to have written out the plan into something actionable. When that’s done, I would like to have spent a few weeks starting the project and really getting into action. TL:DR - Big Project --> Break down into plan --> write the plan out --> act on plan.
Estimated Timeframe
Mar 2nd - Mar 30th
Week 1 Goal
- Write out what I have to do for my plan
- Do research: - How to change your life in one year (Why - I do not feel content with the way I have been living my life. So, identifying what I could/should change is important. When problems and solutions are identified, I can integrate those ideas into my plan) - Find out more things to do/try --> How do I encounter new ideas and interests? - Find similar projects to mine for inspiration - Identify what fundamentals are needed for my project to succeed (E.g. how to manage a project, or how to organize my ideas)
- Finish Reading Refuse To Choose (Why: gives me more clarity on how I could successfully format DSCVR500)
- Write down what I am thinking about. (I tend to do everything in my head. The ideas get nowhere because the translation from head to reality hasn’t been made. Writing down is an attempt at getting better at putting ideas into action.)
- Evaluate and see what I can do next week. - What went well? - What didn’t go they way you thought it would? - How are you changing your approach?
