Description

Very simply I want to rework my overall weekly schedule to allow more room for projects and healthier focus. I’m inspired by one of Day9’s videos “Finding Motivation and Avoiding Time Fillers” to begin by working on my sleep schedule and changing the times at which I wake up and go to bed.

Day [30]

COMPLETE! I am SUPER proud of myself on this first 30 day project especially because it went ahead of schedule and went PERFECTLY. No setbacks. No issues with waking up on time. Honestly I didn’t even know I was capable of doing this but I’m so glad I have as it has revolutionized my life. I have more energy to work on my projects prior to work. I have more time for my wife AFTER work. I have even gotten more workouts in when I run out of projects to work on in the morning.

Now this was just a stepping off point for my NEXT 30 day project which I should start in the next couple weeks but I’m just going to enjoy this win for a little while. The sleep schedule and waking up at 0630 is now part of my life and I want to keep it that way for a LONG time.

Dawn of the Final Day. 24 Hours Remain.

No days missed. All days successful. Really just looking toward the future now and my next 30 day project!

Day [27]

3 days from the finish of my first 30 day project and everything has gone PERFECTLY! I now wake up on time every day. If I sleep in it’s because I CHOSE to sleep in the night before and it’s never more than an hour more than my usual wake up time.

I’ve been using my mornings to stream as my project but this is going to feed into my next goal for my next 30 Day project so be on the lookout!

Continued success every single day! I have yet to have a late wake up. Project work needs to be better defined going forward though into my next phase so at least I have learned that

Alright SUCCESS! Recently I’ve been in a small holding patter on my real “project” work due to waiting for some items to get in from Amazon. That will all change in the next couple days but for now I’m just back to enjoying my mornings again and finding time to just enjoy life prior to the day starting and I gotta say: I love it!

Successful wake up at 0615 and feeling like this may end up being about the time I set as semi-permanent wake up time for awhile.

WHOOPSYYYYYY! I finally missed an update day. No big deal though. Yesterday was a successful wake up and plenty of work completed and today is ALSO successful!

Success! Consciously decided to get moving and wake up at 0630! Going to spend the morning playing Dark Souls Remastered.

Admittedly the “project” time has turned into “enjoy my morning” time currently BUT since I’m only on week 2 and way ahead of schedule on what time I’m waking up I’m just going to take this as a win. Maybe I’m my own project right now ;)

Day [12]

Success? As I was chilling last night I decided that I definitely felt a bit run down after this first week of awakening and thought I could do with a small sleep in. So instead of waking up at 0630 I woke up at 0730 and began moving.

I’m going to count this as a success since it was a very conscious decision the day prior and not an in the moment “I’m sleepy I’ll snooze my alarm” type decision. WOO! Nearly halfway on this first 30 day project!

Day [11]

Once again another successful wake up at 0630. Despite not changing the goal to wake up between 0700 and 0730 I keep waking up ahead of schedule and actually FEEL like getting started with my day so I’m going to just let this keep happening. Though I am ahead of schedule I may try and shift my time back to 0600 by Week 4.

Since this part of the project is going so well I think I’ll begin to focus a bit more on the project side. This is what I’ll be considering this morning for my project!

Successful wake up at 0630 though I did stay in bed and just THINK for about 30 minutes. Suprisingly staying ahead of schedule on this initial project of waking up on time. This morning was right at my week 4 goal. Still not going to rush things.

My 1 hour project for the morning is just answering emails and tidying my workstation!

Day[9]

Success with a price.

Today is the best day for the branding and I woke up PANICKED. I have anxiety just as a rule these days and have been taking prescribed medications to help me control it. Today though when I woke up I felt the monster return. The monster came in with a million little scratching claws with reminders of all the projects I want to start, the things I have to do today to be a normal human/husband, the things that I hope happen, the things I don’t hope happen…

So my project for the morning is: no projects - just relax. Time to play some video games. Drinking some water. Take deep breaths. Bullshit time is project time today. I hope if anyone reads this they take some time to check in with themselves as well!

Day [8]

Another successful morning!

Today was the day to make sure I was awake between 0700 and 0730. Due to the success of the past full week and waking up near 0730 already I decided to push for a bit earlier. I set my alarms for 0615 to take my medicines and then 0645 to be up and moving and it WORKED! Now I’m going to begin my first project of learning how to use Davinci Resolve or at least it’s most basic aspects.

Side note: Tomorrow is Day[9] which is just fantastic for the branding!

Day [7]

SUCCESS! I have made it through my first week of waking up on time and absolutely no wake up time past 0800. Today I set an alarm for earlier because I wanted to see how it would feel at 0630. I did wake up to this alarm and take my morning medications but then felt like it was still a bit too early for me so went back to sleep until 0730.

This week was a success for my goals that I had set for week 1. I feel like Week 2 might begin to be a bit of a stretch for me but we shall see. All in all I am very happy with the success I have gotten already and with the progress I am seeing. Dauntingly next week starts the actual “project” work. Currently these are not super defined well but will either be chores around the house or small items that can be completed within an hour timeframe just to get used to waking up and working on any goal.

Hopefully this first habit of waking up on time and then working on A THING will serve me well on my NEXT 30 day project!

Update: I’ve decided on my “project” for tomorrow morning. I’m going to begin looking into the very basics of using Davinci Resolve for creating videos! Just stating here so that I can remember in the morning since I typically update my 30 Day Project while I’m first waking up.

Day [6]

Woke up at 7:30 to my alarm and immediately got up and got showered and ready. Fed the kitties and the dog and am now going to sit down, relax, and play more Dark Souls! First week is almost done and the projects being on Wednesday!

Day [5]

Woke up at 0735. While not quite as early as earlier this week I am still right on track with waking up for Week 1 so I am quite pleased! I spent the morning dropping off a prescription that needed to be refilled and getting a surprise batch of donuts for my wife.

Work starts in about 2 hours so for now I’m going to spend the rest of my morning drinking a soda and watching SC2 VODs as well as thinking about the schedule I need to create next week.

Day [4]

Woke up at 0700 but accidenatlly fell back asleep until 0730 (whoops!) so I need to remember to move immediately when I wake up. Otherwise good timing and going to get some game playing in immediately this morning with some Dark Souls Cinders mod. All in all my project is going swimmingly.

I was considering moving my wake up time earlier next week but I think I will keep shooting for 0700 - 0730 so that I can more focus on the project work first thing than waking up even earlier.

Day [3]

Alright today is DEFINITELY a bit harder. I was in bed on time last night around 2300 but it took longer to get to sleep than previous nights. Also yesterday the wife and I got our first vaccine shots so I’m going to blame a bit of the bad feelings today on that. Despite all that I woke up at 0700 and was able to get up and get moving near immediately (took some time to love on the kitty that was near my head!).

Harder but still successful!

Going super strong into Day [2]. Once again easy bed time last night post work around 2300 - 2330. My first alarm went off at 0700 this morning and honestly I just felt good enough to get up again.

Going to spend the morning playing Dark Souls 3 Cinders mod!

Day [1]

Off to a great start! Went to bed on time last night around 2300 with no issue whatsoever though, admittedly, getting to sleep is usually not the hard part for me. If sleeping were an Olympic sport Michael Phelps would look like a chump next to me. I’m talking new California Gold Rush levels of medals. Trying to wake me up though? Good luck.

Today was a bit easier though thanks to the fact that my phone began buzzing around 0630 due to a meme channel I forgot to mute in a new discord. Think I’ll be leaving that one unmuted for the future. Now here I am an hour later, drinking water, enjoying my morning and updating my first post.

Overall, Decent first day. I’ll spend the morning just watching Youtube I think.

Wake up at 8 AM and enjoy my morning with absolute free time. No need to work on projects or anything but whatever I want.

Week 2 Goal

Wake up at 7 - 7:30 AM the entire week. Spend at least 1 hour working on a defined goal between waking up and work time.

Week 3 Goal

Wake up definitively at 6:30 AM - 7:30 AM. Spend at least 1 hour working on a defined goal between waking up and work time.

Week 4 Goal

Wake up definitively at 6:30 AM. Spend at least 1 hour working on a defined goal between waking up and work time.
