I’ve been wanting to do something more creative in my free time and I think streaming could be a fun avenue to explore for that. My goals would be to research and obtain the most budget friendly equipment options, and figure out how to use OBS and the like. I am aiming for the first two weeks of the project to be research, purchasing, and setup, with the last week and a half to two weeks being streaming with some regularity. I plan on playing games (MTG most likely) but I am also very interested in trying to do some streams centered around scientific literacy as this is something I am very passionate about.

A bit behind, but I have done research on mic and camera options and think I have my final candidates. I will order these soon! I have also recruited a friend of mine with OBS experience to help me get a basic overlay setup and show me the ropes! I now have doubts about finishing everything that I wanted to in the four week time frame as work got a little more hectic than I expected. I don’t really care all that much though because I am just excited about the progress that I have made so far!

Oct 19th - Nov 19th

Week 1 Goal

Research: I want to spend this week researching and deciding on the equipment to purchase in order to start streaming. I know this is a deep topic, however I want to be find budget friendly options just so I can get started and see how I feel about streaming. This mostly to me means finding a camera and mic to use.

Week 2 Goal

Setup: With equipment decided on, learning how to get audio and video to eventually end up being a stream still seems to me a very difficult task. I have done some very preliminary messing around with OBS and the like but actually getting these components together will require a lot of research on my end. I have a friend who has streamed before who I hope to enlist to overcome any roadblocks.

Week 3 Goal

Start Streaming/More Setup: If the previous week goes well then this would ideally be the week I would start streaming. However, I see multiple ways this time line could be interrupted, such as wait time for equipment to arrive and figuring out the setup.

Week 4 Goal

Regular Streaming: This would be the week I would stream regularly to see what I think! I loom forward to seeing how I feel about the process and continuing streaming after this!
