Description

I’ve had this goal to start recording my progress with my Gunpla building via social media for a while, and this is just the time to do it! The plan is to record the process via pictures and video, and share the journey along the way. Also doing so will just help me remember review my own workflow and steps easier for the future to learn and grow from, as well as taking steps to eventually, maybe, starting a youtube channel.

Week 1 Update 1 (10/22)

Finally made a start on this today, with work being well, retail, and just general life things coming up it feels good to get going on this. Snap building (the process of putting the kit together with no paint, glue, etc.) is boring but also really peaceful and a nice break from the chore of work.

Shots below for the start of where I’m at after one session, hoping to get the rest done by tomorrow or Sunday.

I’ll get better pics hopefully this weekend, when it’s not 830pm and I’ve been up since 3am for work.

Estimated Timeframe

Oct 19th - Nov 19th

Week 1 Goal

Pick the model kit from my backlog and snap build it, taking time to clean nub marks, seam lines and all those other fun bits I rush over. Have entire kit snap built and ready for customizing by the end of the week. Post photos to instagram twice this week for progress shots.

Week 2 Goal

Start the customizing! Panel line scribing, adding styrene bits and the like, entirely dependent on which kit I pick. I’ve got a couple in mind, and they both involve some level of adding extra detail to them before paint to make them pop.

Post photos to instagram at least twice this week to show progress.

Week 3 Goal

Finish customizing if need be and start priming and painting. Decide on a color scheme for the love of everything and try to use one new technique for painting I’m bad at or need to improve on.

Post to instagram twice this week, before and after shots.

Week 4 Goal

Finish painting, varnishing and panel lining! Home stretch so hopefully there’s not much left to do here. Follow up with a neat photoshoot wherever I’m able weather permitting.

Post photoshoot to instagram as well as final painting steps.
