So… another small injury (pulled string) made me take a week break. Yesterday was the first time i ran since then and ran 13k. Not very good, since the marathon is in 20 days. Looks like i wont be able to run it, but i"m still gonna train.

since my last update i ran another 10k, and today i finished my first long run of 20k. it wasnt too bad, however by the end my legs were giving up on me. Now, a well deserved rest.

Three weeks ago I saw an ad for my city’s marathon. I never liked running and always preferred gym workouts, but felt like I lacked cardio in my life. Also, I love me a challenge. So i decided to sign up and start training. The catch? It’s in two months.

From my research it quickly became clear that it takes at least 12 weeks to train for a marathon. Preferably 16. Now, i didnt have that luxury. So i made my own training plan and prayed not to get injured.

So I did my first practice run on January 8th and decided to cut it after 6km. It felt great so I started to worry less. How ironic…

My next run on 10th i lasted 5km. Then a sharp pain appeared in my right foot and i couldnt even walk home. I took an electric scooter and all but gave up on actually participating in the marathon.

After almost a week, the pain started subsiding and I got an idea that it must be caused by my shoes. I was using a pair of tennis shoes and wearing them 6 days after the injury still was painful. So i went to a local Nike store (not sponsored) and bough a nice pair for long distance running and decided to go for a short run to see how it feels.

16/01 I ended up running 11km.I felt great and super enthusiastic. My legs were super sore after, though.

18/01 I went for another 10km run. This one was difficult and didnt feel as great as my last one. Still, I finished it and with the better time. I don’t have any plans to do specific time during the race, so i dont concern myself with running fast. But maybe I should? I think that my next run I’ll try to run a 6-minute per km. Will see how it goes.
