Learning to Powerlift

Kayla Health, Fitness, Food DK30 New Year 2022 1 1

Description

Signed up with a personal trainer for 10 sessions to learn how to powerlift while also starting training for a half marathon I want to sign up for this summer (on June 18th). I have only ran 5ks since breaking my ankle so would like a training plan for a half marathon. I have always wanted to learn to powerlift but have limited ankle mobility so looking for a trainer to help me safely lift. (This is trainer #2 I am trying. First one was nice but not a good fit).

Week 2 update? Have had 5 ish sessions with the trainer and so far am really enjoying it. Really struggling with any and all ab workouts but that is nothing new for me! Went to the gym today for the first workout by myself and I think it went really well. (: Spent the morning working and tried to talk myself out of going alone. Got to the gym and there were only two other people there! Contrary to what seems to be popular opinion… leg day is still my favorite. ♥

Reached out to the trainer discussed my goals last week. 1. Learn to powerlift. 2. Train for a half marathon. Downloaded MyFitnesspal to track what I eat. Will have to work on taking in more water and protein since I know my diet is lacking there. First session is leg day today. Will update later but today was day #1 … leg day! Felt really good during the session but as the day goes on I am reminded about DOMS. |:

Estimated Timeframe

Feb 7th - Apr 4th

Week 1 Goal

Reach out to personal trainer. Review goals and discuss a plan going forward. Possibly meet 2x a week for a month?

Week 2 Goal

Going to have PT sessions 2x a week, not sure how long until I will go down to one (due to budget restrictions). First exercise session is 2/14, will plan the rest of the week from there and update. Goal is to exercise 2-3x/week at least, pending what the PT plan is.

Week 3 Goal

Have a closer look at diet plan / what I need to buy from the grocery store. Keep exercising.

Week 4 Goal

Hopefully have a plan and a solid foundation. I’m not really sure what goals to put here so I will update later. A lot depends on what happens on my first training session with the PT. :)
