Caught in layoffs. Time to build a new portfolio!

Description

I was a Product Design lead for a major tech company until I got caught in layoffs about a month ago. I took a few weeks to chill and travel, but now I need to buckle down and turn the last 4+ years of my work into a couple of very compelling case studies. It’s my first time looking specifically for a managerial role, so it’s a very different kind of portfolio than I’m used to writing or evaluating, and that makes it kind of intimidating. I’m hoping to use DK30 to give myself some structure and accountability for getting it done!

So this went 0-60 almost immediately. I had an exploratory conversation early last week about a role that I’m actually very interested in, and I was asked to send a resume and portfolio over… which, obviously, I didn’t have yet. So I’ve been grinding way hard since then to get it done ASAP. It’s been crazy stressful, and completely threw my plan for the month out the window, but I’m making good progress:

On a personal note, it’s been kind of a rollercoaster these last couple weeks. At the same time that I started the portfolio work, I also got on ADHD meds for the first time since I was a teenager. I’m still coming to understand the effect they have for me, and it feels like I’m sorta having to relearn how my brain works. It’s a strange thing to manage at the same time that I’m wringing everything I can out of each day. That said, despite all of the stress, perfectionism, and self doubt, there’s no way I’d be as far along as I am if I hadn’t finally taken that step. So here’s to progress.
