POWERHOT v2

Day[9] Health, Fitness, Food DK30 Fall 2023 11 5

Description

I put on a bunch of weight over the pandemic. Frankly? It was AWESOME! I found the whole lockdown ordeal to be quite stressful, and absolutely ate food to make myself feel better. Now that things are (sorta) more normal, I’m feeling the mental space to start heading back to the gym! I’ve already been eating healthy for a week and I want to keep going for a whole YEAR

Recent Updates

Day[9] a year ago

WHAT! I WEIGH 242 LBS! Just weighed in at the gym!

Overall, that’s 12lbs in 12 weeks, and 4 of those weeks were me absolutely HORKING food over the holiday break roflmao. It’s STUNNING to me that portion control is having such a positive impact so far.

Looks like I might very well fall under 230 by my bday woohoo! It would also be sweet to be leaner for this year’s PC Gaming Show

Day[9] a year ago

Okie Dokie! We went to the gym last week and I AMAZINGLY weighed in at 248! I’ve been eating like ABSOLUTE GARBAGE for the 3 weeks I wasn’t streaming, but i WAS very cognizant of portion sizes. I know this might sound strange, but it’s unreal to me that I simply ate less of the garbage food and lost weight. Like, I expected to be pushing back towards 260 again hahahaha.

Also, I learned something that i’m VERY EMBARRASSED about: the oil I’ve been using to coat my pans? The oil I use every day for making eggs? And pretty much every dinner that I cook? Yeah, I’ve never included those in my calorie counting SO I’ve been undercounting for basically my entire life WOOPS.

So, tomorrow begins the disciplined powerhot plan: attending the gym 5 days a week, starting just with running, and doing that alongside very deliberate healthy food & portion control. I don’t plan on NEVER eating “cheat meals” or so, but just balancing out the entire day by eating less in the morning. For example, I might have a protein shake in the morning instead of eggs, then have a light lunch if I’m intending on having a MONDO dinner (eg KBBQ w/ soju :>).

At any rate, my entire POWERHOT v2 plan was thrown awry by being sick as hell for all of December. So, I’m really looking forward to the regularity of sleep schedule, work, and exercise as 2024 begins. Perhaps I can be under 230 by the time my birthday rolls around on June 27?

It’s gonna be a good year!

Day[9] a year ago

Also, to be clear, I’m not going to mark this project as complete this month but, rather, continue to update it with my weight loss well into 2024!

Day[9] a year ago

Welp, I continued to remain sick, but I’m almost fully better now! However, I haven’t weighed myself in 2 weeks so I’m biding my time until I return.

Overall, I’m still SUPER PROUD of my portion control, especially around dinner time! Historically, I LOVE having a big ass meal and loafing on the sofa for the last hours of the day before bedtime. I’ve found that, with smaller portions for dinner, I’m sleeping WAY more soundly and getting better rest woohoo!

I’m estimating that I might have put some weight back on (I stopped cooking when I was really sick and just ordered food) but WHO CARES I’m feeling great about being able to commit to smaller eatin’s and many gymmin’s

Day[9] a year ago

So i have been INSANELY sick this last week. I have been sweating up a storm, struggling with sleep, and naturally missing the gym. I’ve still been mostly good about maintaining reasonable portions throughout the day though! That said, I absolutely didn’t eat healthy a few nights in a row, ordering indian one night and burgers another! Also, once I felt better, I absolutely had myself some beer and it was niiiiiice ^_^.

I don’t feel bad at all about “breaking the streak” of no beer/soda for the last 6 weeks because, simply, I don’t! hah! I’m eager for my chest to finally clear up so I can return to the gym later this week. I still have all my health meals lined up for the week too :). Feeling optimistic about continued weight loss onward into 2024!

Day[9] a year ago
  • 11/14 weight - 254
  • 11/21 weight - 254
  • 11/28 weight - 252
  • 12/5 weight - 250 (today)

WE ARE DOING IT WE ARE SHEDDIN POUNDS BABYYYYY.

Also, I attended a big party on saturday that lasted through lunch AND dinner. They had tons of burgers, pizza, beer and so on but I was AMAZING about eating TINY portions and I still consumed NO BEER. Currently i’m on a 5 week streak of no soda no beer so i’m feeling GREAT about the ways in which I’m controlling my diet. Best I’ve felt about it so far :D

Day[9] a year ago

FINALLY returned to the gym! Did a lil bit o’ elliptical, and weighed myself!

254lbs again lol. The DREAM is to lose a pound a week. I’d like to do a weigh in every Tuesday-ish so I’ll keep trackin!

Day[9] a year ago

So, it’s been a little over a week and things have been going “well-ish”. Historically, when I’ve tried to “lose weight/get in shape”, I’ve focused aggressively on going to the gym, telling myself, “IM GONNA GOTO THE GYM 6 DAYS A WEEK STARTING ON DAY ONE!” This often leads me to burning out / getting an injury / being hungry and eating more than i’m burning lol.

So, as I wrote before, I’m focusing more heavily on FOOD! This last week I’ve been very responsible & diligent about NOT overeating. Hungry late at night? I’ve been drinking TEA! Go out to dinner and have a pulled pork sandwich? Had a smaller portion at lunch beforehand! I haven’t been obsessive about counting calories, but vaguely tracking them has been incredibly helpful for managing portions day-to-day.

I’m also proud to report I haven’t had any beer or soda in a few weeks! Long live tea!

As for gymming, I have been more spotty regarding gym attendance, but for very good reason! I lifted weights for the first time in a LONG time and all my tendons flared up in agony lol. It literally took a few days for my muscles/joints to calm down. Fortunately, this has happened to me many times before and I’m committed to NOT trying to push through that initial pain. I’ve still been waking up early, going on longer walks with cece, and I’m planning to return to weightlifting later this week.

Also, there’s been a number of random personal interruptions for the gym (eg, needing to handle an urgent errand in the morning when I’d normally go work out). But, because I am more diet/food focused, I haven’t felt bad! Normally, I’d be really demoralized if I wasn’t able to make it to the gym consistently, beating myself up or thinking, “man, i’m never gonna get in shape” etc. This time, however, I can reassure myself, “no worries! we’re still gonna eat healthy today!” and then I can feel a sense of accomplishment/reassurance.

I’m looking forward to returning to the gym and weighing myself. I’d like to weigh myself every week because that trajectory can be very helpful for me in the long run. I don’t typically feel bad if my weight doesn’t change over the course of 2-4 weeks. I know how toxic it can be to constantly self judge if the weight doesn’t ONLY GO DOWN. However, I enjoy that backwards looking, “wow, look at what my weight did over 6 months time!” That experience can be really powerfully motivating.

In short, I’m happy with my first week! Gonna keep on truckin! Long live tea!

Day[9] a year ago

TODAY i went to the gym and weighed myself for the first time in 3 years! I am 254 lbs at 6’4’’ (193cm)! I’m also eating a regular healthy regimen of

  • Eggs and toast for breakfast
  • Chicken spinach and black beans for lunch
  • Some generally healthy dinner I cook w/ brit: fish, chicken, pasta etc!

Also, I’ve begun to drink the everliving shit out of TEA. I’m finding it to be literally ideal when it comes to wanting a late night snack/drink! Lets see how I’m doing in 1 month!
