WELL I was out of commission for 3 weeks due to travels, getting sick during traveling, then having a really busy week at work as my team was in town. I’m better and hope to get back into all the exercising, particularly given the stellar summer weather. Aiming for 25 miles a week with more of a focus on core and strength training, interspersed with a sprinkle of hiking, running, rowing on an ERG, Peloton, and ARCHERY because i realized it’s an incredible sport when I did it with my team last week. Will kick off new project at the beginning of each month so I can focus on the month of.

Welp was still sick at end of month but I did get back into exercising early July, so closing this project and then creating a new one for July!

Why do I keep getting sick

  • I was doing well through Wednesday of this week but I think I got exposed to air conditioning that’s too cold when not wearing enough clothes so now I have a sore throat, and any intense physical activity including regular exercise seems to exacerbate it and tire me out immediately. Time to focus on recovery again.
  • At least I got a great session in at the gym on Tuesday!

Haven’t had a heavy period for awhile, so took it easy when it started

  • Since I’m on birth control, usually I either don’t have periods or it’s very light. This month it happens to be heavier than usual, which means I’m more tired than I normally am. Plus it’s been very busy at work and even outside of work.
  • I’m glad I decided to take it easy this weekend. I ended up taking a 4 hour nap today to make up for lost rest actually. I actually estimated that every 2-4 weeks, I will likely need an afternoon’s nap to get enough rest to balance it out with the stress i’ve accumulated.
  • I am pretty proud of getting 2 days of workout in at work this week. I figured out how to use the assisted pullup and dips machine, so I have a very good routine.
  • Our 75+ year CFO was going so hard on the Peloton when I entered the gym Tuesday. He is also just a wonderful person and when we talked after during the happy hour, he encouraged me to keep it up with my workouts and dragonboating. Just like our 70+ year old dragonboaters and the 60+ year old Asian American woman who skateboards at an Olympic level, these wise folks inspire me to put more effort into being active so I can still be active and thriving at that age.

  • Once this period fades, I’ll get back into the workouts. Hopefully I can do so starting Tuesday, and hit the 25 mile mark this upcoming week.
